Bell, Book & Candle

by John Van Druten

directed by Scott Palmer

Usher in the holidays with a classic romantic comedy filled with magic, charm, and just a little touch of witchcraft! John Van Druten's 1950 play inspired the hugely popular film starring Kim Novak and Jimmy Stewart, and one of the most popular television shows in history, Bewitched!

Gillian Holroyd, a witch living in Greenwich Village, has fallen in love with her neighbor... a serious problem for witches, who must give up their powers if they fall in love with a mere mortal! When Gillian finds out he is going to marry an old college rival, she casts a love spell on him which (of course) backfires! Will Gillian give up her powers for a shot at happiness, or will she lose her last chance at love? Find out this holiday season in a production that takes full advantage of The Vault's magical technology!

The Island in Winter,
or La Isla en Invierno

a world premiere adaptation based on

The Winter's Tale by William Shakespeare

adapted by Carlos-Zenen Trujillo

directed by Scott Palmer

Our inaugural Problem Play Project production is a remarkable new vision of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale in a bilingual world premiere adaptation! The Bard's spellbinding tale of jealousy, prophecy, magic, and redemption, reworked by Hillsboro-native Carlos-Zenen Trujillo, transports the action away from Sicilia and Bohemia to Miami and Havana.

Bringing Latin-American magical realism to play in one of Shakespeare's most compelling (and magical) tales, The Island in Winter is the first show in a three-year project that asks emerging playwrights of color to re-imagine Shakespeare's Problem Plays with a diversity and equity lens.

Peter/Wendy

by Jeremy Bloom

adapted from Peter and Wendy, and The Little White Bird by J.M. Barrie

directed by Cassie Greer

We all think we know the classic children's story of Peter Pan: the boy who never grows up, Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, Lost Boys, and a hungry crocodile. Well, that is NOT this show!

Jeremy Bloom's adaptation of the classic J.M. Barrie tale digs deep into the darker side of Neverland, breaking the story down into its most essential and imaginative parts, and creating a much more adult exploration of the psychology and meaning underlying one of the most famous "children's" stories ever told. Our final show of the 18-19 Season is decidedly NOT for children, but instead is a uniquely Bag&Baggage exploration of one of the greatest classics of Western literature.
