She Kills Monsters: Young Adventurers Edition

This play tells the story of Agnes Evans as she leaves her childhood home in Ohio following the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, however, she finds herself catapulted into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was her sister’s refuge. In this high-octane dramatic comedy laden with homicidal fairies, nasty ogres, and 90s pop culture, acclaimed playwright Qui Nguyen offers a heart-pounding homage to the geek and warrior within us all.

Wayzata Musicales: Erin Livingston Sings the
Great American Songbook

Wayzata Musicales kicks off its ‘24-‘25 concert season with vocalist Erin Livingston singing some of the most memorable songs of all time…with a twist…of lime! Swingin' and singin' in the style of Nat King Cole, Veronica Swift and Ella Fitzgerald, she will have you tapping, snapping and singing along!

Livingston is an exceptional jazz, blues and country singer, as well as an experienced cabaret artist. She has performed numerous times at many of the Twin Cities finest music venues, including Crooners and the Dakota. Livingston recently produced and performed a tribute to Helen Reddy with a ten piece band. She also loves to share her music with senior centers and veterans’ homes around the Twin Cities. In addition to her performing career, Livingston teaches and lectures at the MacPhail Center for the Arts.

Magic Tree House: A Ghost Tale for Mr. Dickens JR

The magic tree house whisks Jack and Annie back in time to the foggy streets of Victorian London, where they meet the famous, well-off author, Charles Dickens, who has a severe case of writer’s block. Jack and Annie also witness the hardships faced by the poor, and their efforts to help only land them in prison. Mr. Dickens rescues Jack and Annie, and they, in turn, help him escape the sad memories that haunt him. In the process, they inspire Mr. Dickens to write one of the greatest holiday stories of all time.

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Mr. Fox lives with his wife and four little foxes. In order to feed his starving family, he starts to steal food every night from the cruel, brutish farmers named Boggis, Bunce, and Bean. Despite having limited resources, Mr. Fox is clever and resourceful as he is willing to work with other animals to devise and implement innovative “food heist” plans in order to help his family and friends. Mr Fox, is the leader of his group and is constantly outwitting the farmers. Even when faced with obstacles like the farmers’ traps and shop set-up outside their tunnels, the Fantastic Mr. Fox never gives up on trying to find a way out of any situation. His perseverance ultimately results in his success helping the ones he loves despite all odds being against him. Roald Dahl’s classic story explores the importance of family and friends as well as the power of intelligence in overcoming oppression. It also reminds us to reflect on the neverending conflict between man and the natural world.

Wayzata Musicales: Copper Street Brass

The Copper Street Brass is the premier brass chamber ensemble in Minnesota. Founded in 2008, they perform an original blend of musical styles from Mozart to Madonna in dozens of concerts and outreach programs each season. The group’s sound has been described by reviewers as “flawless,” “polished,” and “somewhere between magnificent and exquisite.” Their artistic excellence was widely recognized when they were chosen as a finalist for the prestigious McKnight Artist Fellowship. Each of the individual artists is a master of his or her craft, and have performed with world-renowned classical ensembles like the Minnesota Orchestra, SPCO, and the Minnesota Opera. They also have the versatility to perform with jazz/blues groups such as Davina and the Vagabonds, Prince, Grammy-winner Big Walter Smith, and many others.

This concert will open with a short performance by Wayzata High School’s Jazz Ensemble Blue.

The Prom: School Edition

The careers of four eccentric Broadway stars are struggling and they desperately need a new stage upon which to shine bright once more. Seeking out a cause, they head straight to small-town Indiana. Through social media, they have heard of trouble brewing around a school prom. Local girl, Emma Nolan, wants to take her girlfriend to prom but the homophobic PTA is on a mission to keep the high school dance on the straight and  narrow. Determined to transform lives and put themselves back in the limelight, the Broadway celebrities muscle in to change the town and give Emma the prom she deserves.

Wayzata Musicales: Gypsy Mania Quartet

Wayzata Musicales welcomes the Gypsy Mania Quartet to the Blue Water Theatre stage.

The Gypsy Mania “Hot Club” Quartet, performs a timeless jazz tradition commonly known as Gypsy Jazz, a blend of traditional Roma music and swing jazz. Originating in Paris in the early 1930s, the ‘Hot Club’ jazz tradition brings back happy memories of the swing jazz era, with a unique French twist. Performing together for over 16 years, this quartet’s music keeps audience members on the edge (or out!) of their chairs with their formidable improvisational prowess, and exceptional stylistic dimension. A group not to be missed. Django Reinhardt’s spirit will be in the house.

Wayzata Musicales: Brad Olson’s One Man Band

Wayzata Musicales is pleased to cap off our season of concerts and welcome warmer weather with Mr. Brad Olson’s entertaining and varied “One Man Band” show.

Twin Cities native, Brad Olson, has made music both a passion and profession for the past 40+ years. As a vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, he covers all musical genres and decades. Olson has performed and traveled the United States playing Las Vegas, state fairs, Valleyfair, and more. He has opened for national recording artists Three Dog Night, Blood Sweat and Tears, and The Temptations, to name a few. Locally, Olson has been a member of The Whitesidewalls, Rockin’ Hollywoods, Hitz, and Bob and the Beachcombers. He has also performed as lead trumpet and pit orchestra conductor for the popular “Wastebasket Revue” concerts. Get ready to get your groove on!
