The Cat and the Canary (1927)
Friday, October 25th @ 7:30pm
Jay Warren, Chicago’s foremost photoplay organist, brings all the color, excitement, and glamour of the silent film era back to life with his original scores for the silver screen. Mr. Warren will accompany Paul Leni's “The Cat and the Canary” (1927) from Emmanuel’s historic Casavant pipe organ.
Classic "dark-house" mystery (think - "things go bump in the night") - plenty of shadows, sliding panels, secret passages, the reading of the will 20 years after the owner of the old mansion passed away, and the heirs have gathered at midnight. Stars Laura La Plante (very big star in the day); directed by Paul Leni. Lots of comedic touches throughout.
