The Phantom Carriage

Saturday, October 5 @ 7:30pm

Jay Warren, Chicago’s foremost photoplay organist, brings all the color, excitement, and glamour of the silent film era back to life with his original scores for the silver screen. Mr. Warren will accompany Victor Sjöström’s “The Phantom Carriage” (1921) from Emmanuel’s historic Casavant pipe organ.

On New Year’s Eve, the driver of a ghostly carriage forces a drunken man to reflect on his selfish, wasted life. This extraordinarily rich and innovative silent classic is a Dickensian ghost story and a deeply moving morality tale, as well as a showcase for groundbreaking special effects.
