Booker T. Jones is a legend of soul music.

What is soul? It’s the rush of rock n’ roll with the depth of gospel.

Many say Mr. Jones set the standard of the soul genre and is responsible for its rise in popularity in the 1960s, and enduring place in modern music. By the time he was 17, Jones had recorded the “Green Onions” album with his band Booker T. and the MG’s, which sold 1 million copies worldwide. The title track of the same name is in the Rolling Stones Top 500 songs of all time, and in 2025 was featured in a star-studded Super Bowl commercial.
