Natalie McMaster and Donnell Leahy

Celtic Superstars and power-couple Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy are back on the
world stage for the first time since their marriage in 2000. The early 2000’s saw both Natalie and Donnell busy raising their 7 children (all world class musical talents in their own right), and running a fully operational farm - all while still playing over 75 shows a year in North America. Natalie and Donnell have performed with some of the biggest names in music including Carlos Santana, Don Henley, Béla Fleck and more.

With most of the children now in their early to late teens, it’s time to spread their wings again and bring their electrifying live performances to audiences everywhere. Returning to Civic Music after a 10-year hiatus, they will again be performing with two of their seven children, who wowed our audience back then. They call it, “Four on the Floor” and it will likely include some Irish stepdance.

Vienna Boys Choir

The Vienna Boys Choir are one of the oldest and most famous choirs in the world. In Vienna, together with members of the Vienna Philharmonic and the Vienna State Opera Chorus, they maintain an imperial tradition as a court music band: they have been performing regularly in the Hofburg Chapel since 1498. The repertoire of the Vienna Boys' Choir ranges from the Middle Ages to contemporary music. Today there are almost 100 active Vienna Boys' Choir between the ages of nine and fourteen.

The Choir has traveled to almost all countries in Europe, Asia and Australia, South and Central America, Canada, and the USA, including right here in Corning New York in 1974 and 1994! Together, the choirs perform around 300 times a year in front of almost half a million spectators. Experience the finest voices Austria has to offer with this special holiday concert.

Tommy Dorsey Orchestra

In Big Band history, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra is recognized as one of the best all-around
dance bands. Popular almost from the moment it signed with RCA Victor in 1935, it could swing
with the best of them. No other band could come close to Tommy's when it came to playing
ballads, especially with the addition of Frank Sinatra as male vocalist. “Opus One”, “Song Of
India”, “I’ll Never Smile Again”, “Marie” and “Boogie Woogie” are part of a string of hit records that
continue to be performed by The TDO still today.

The One and Only Tommy Dorsey Orchestra,under the direction of Jeff Bush, continues this exciting big-band tradition for audiences worldwide, and fans of all ages. They will also perform at one of our local school districts to inspire our up-and-coming local musicians.

New York Voices

New York Voices was founded in 1987 at Ithaca College. One of their early debuts was in Greenwich Village, which launched the beginning of a sizable following and noise enough to start attracting the interest of record labels. They then hit the road, touring America in a motor home and making their first international excursions as they worked to build a worldwide audience. Collaborating with the Count Basie Orchestra, Paquito d’Rivera, and the Dizzy Gillespie All-Star Big Band, they also launched a jazz education initiative, inaugurating its Vocal Jazz Camp for aspiring jazz singers in 2008.

Together in different iterations for almost 40 years, Darmon Meader, musical director and tenor jokes, “We’re like a four-headed old married couple…just a big family at this point.” Civic Music is fortunate to present this world-renowned vocal jazz group for their final tour as the New York Voices.

Women of Americana: A Celebration of American Music from Bob Dylan to Bonnie Raitt

Early folk, gospel, and Western swing musicians laid the groundwork for Americana, extending back to the founding mothers and fathers of country music, including Hank Williams, Woody Guthrie, and the Carter Family. A Celebration of American Music: From Bob Dylan to Bonnie Raitt brings together some of today’s most accomplished and expressive female artists for an exuberant exploration of this expansive and singular American genre.

A six-piece all-female band will feature vocalists and instrumentalists, Cristina Vane and Brennen Leigh, as they interpret iconic songs, including “This Land is Your Land” (Woody Guthrie), “This Train” (Sister Rosetta Tharpe), “Just Like a Woman” (Bob Dylan), and “Angel From Montgomery” (Bonnie Raitt and John Prine). Coinciding with the 250th anniversary of the United States’ founding, Women of Americana will entertain and inspire audiences at a historic moment in our nation’s history.
