A young William Shakespeare, early in his career, is suffering from writer’s block—until he meets the woman who will inspire him to pen the greatest love story of all time. This whimsical comedy—full of verbal wit and physical humor—is based on the screenplay by the same title. The Centralia College production recreates the allure of the Elizabethan era, transporting audiences to Shakespeare’s time and place by staging the comedy on a replica of the Globe Theatre.

Two rival gangs fight for control of the upper west side of New York City: the white American "Jets" and the Puerto Rican "Sharks". Their turf war becomes complicated when one gang member falls in love with his rival's sister. This musical theatre classic retells the story of Romeo and Juliet, re-envisioned for the 1950s on New York City streets. Leonard Bernstein’s award-winning score features the songs "Tonight", "I Feel Pretty" and the Puerto Rican-inspired “America”.
