He shares stories and songs about growing up in the Detroit area, traveling Up North, and his time as a student at Harrison High School, the new home of The Hawk Community Center.
Join us for an evening of acoustic guitar music, original songs, and masterful storytelling as John takes the Black Box stage for an intimate concert experience. With his heartfelt lyrics, rich vocals, and masterful guitar playing, Lamb invites the audience on a journey through the landscapes of life, love, and growing up in Southeast Michigan.

Under the direction of Steven SeGraves for 34 years, The Farmington Chorus was established in 1980 through the sponsorship of the Farmington Hills Parks and Recreation Department. The Chorus has been performing holiday concerts and spring concerts ever since. With more than sixty members, The Farmington Chorus performs a variety of Broadway favorites, ballads, vocal jazz, and classical music.
The Chorus holds open auditions before each season and meets regularly every Tuesday evening at The Hawk in Farmington Hills from September to May. For more information, visit https://farmingtonchorus.com.

Come celebrate the holiday season by enjoying an evening of beautiful music that includes holiday favorites, traditional and contemporary carols, classical gems and stunning jazz arrangements. The featured artists include Alice McAllister Tillman, Dewayne McAllister, Peter McAllister and Maestro Willie McAllister, Jr. Individually their excellence is well known, but when brought together for Once Upon a December Eve, they create a magic that is not often witnessed!
Alice McAllister Tillman, Soprano, is a versatile artist whose experiences have taken her to concert halls and recital stages throughout North America. She is known for her ability to perform a diverse range of literature spanning many genres. She has been presented in solo recitals that include Art Song, Operatic Arias, Spirituals, Musical Theater and Jazz. She is frequently engaged in Oratorio and Symphonic presentations. Alice is a long-standing member of the Award-Winning Brazeal Dennard Chorale and accepted the role of Artistic Director in September of 2015. In her debut season as Artistic Director, Ms. McAllister Tillman had the honor of conducting The Brazeal Dennard Chorale and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Roland Carter’s Lift Every Voice and Sing. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and a State of Michigan Teacher Certification from The University of Michigan School of Music, Theater & Dance. Ms. McAllister Tillman is the creator and featured solo artist of Once Upon a December Eve. Alice McAllister Tillman is a featured recording artist on The Second Anthology of Art Songs by Black American Composers, The New Negro Spiritual, Remembering II Significant Spirituals, Reflections and Once Upon a December Eve.

Ring in the New Year with Detroit Symphony wind principals – oboist Alex Kinmonth, clarinetist Ralph Skiano, hornist Scott Strong and bassoonist Conrad Cornelison – as they rejoin pianist Pauline Martin for an exquisite program built around Beethoven’s Quintet for Piano and Winds.

Award-winning Detroit based singer-songwriter Mike Ward: Psychosongs is known for his lyrically-centric, vocally-charged folk songs. Influences are the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Dylan, Springsteen and John Prine. His intimate songwriting echoes through empty city streets, back country roads and family portraits. Mike has released four studio albums. Accolades include Honorable Mentions in the 2022 Great River Songwriting Competition and 2023 Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Competition. He performs regularly throughout Michigan, the Midwest, and the East Coast.

Little ones, ages three to six, with a caregiver are invited to join us for a musical morning of fun. Each session will introduce your little one to a different section of the orchestra. We’ll learn together about brass, woodwind, string and percussion instruments. Each session will include an opportunity for age-appropriate learning, arts and crafts and music-making with professional musicians and instructors.
Please note, this is not a drop-off program. Each paid child’s ticket includes admission for one caregiver with the child.

Xiao Dong Wei, Master of the Erhu, and Steinway Artist, Yuki Mack, return to the Hawk Black Box for a concert celebrating Lunar New Year.
At the age of 11, Xiao Dong Wei was accepted into the prestigious Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing where she earned her degree. A Kresge Artist, University of Michigan lecturer, frequent guest soloist for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and other renowned orchestras, Xiao Dong Wei has travelled the world sharing her profound musical talent.
Yuki Mack has performed throughout the United States and three continents. Yuki’s performances include a broad range of piano works including chamber music and as a soloist with many orchestras.

YEMAN is an Iraqi-American 30-year-old acoustic fingerstyle guitarist based in Royal Oak, MI. Drawing on inspirations from his upbringing and influences from Tommy Emmanuel, Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Knopfler, amongst many others, he composes original fingerstyle guitar works. He has formerly opened for world-class guitarists such as Stefano Barone, Pino Forastiere, Antoine Dufour, Michael Chapdelaine, Kyran Daniel, and Calum Graham.

45th Anniversary Choral Celebration

Celebrate 45 years of choral tradition with The Farmington Chorus. This sapphire anniversary celebration is sure to be a delight. The Farmington Chorus is a community chorus with more than sixty members. Under the direction of Steven SeGraves for 34 years, the chorus was established in 1980 through the sponsorship of the Farmington Hills Parks and Recreation Department. The Chorus has been performing holiday concerts and spring concerts ever since. The Farmington Chorus performs a variety of Broadway favorites, ballads, vocal jazz, and classical music.
The chorus holds open auditions before each season and meets regularly every Tuesday evening at The Hawk in Farmington Hills from September to May. For more information, visit https://farmingtonchorus.com.

Comprised of Micah Middaugh (guitar, vocals), Andréa Paz (cello, vocals) and Trevor Hobbs (percussion and keys), the trio Breathe Owl Breathe have a knack for wrapping universal emotions in childlike language. …There, by the heat of a wood stove, they honed their sound—a wild rumpus of harmony and rhythm. The band’s music is terrifically disarming, Middaugh’s cracked tenor ambling over acoustic guitars, Paz’s cello swooping in gracefully, like a warm breeze or a host of doves. While some peers have reveled in reinvigorating the old, weird side of Americana, Breathe Owl Breathe's flare for pop-addled melodies flips the contemporary folk aesthetic, eschewing freakiness in favor of charm. It’s a dynamic built on coupling clever arrangements with lyrical whimsy and a folklore that is otherworldly.

Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the wild and vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. How will this naïve newbie rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady and her friends devise a "Revenge Party" to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
