From Stillness to Running

In this concert we tell stories about places and people, about change and discovery. Bach’s monumental motet Jesu Meine Freude explores the strength drawn from a journey of faith. Other works on the program center on our relationship with nature — as we move through this world exploring “the peace of wild things” (Wendell Berry) and “this shining night” (James Agee).

Toward the Light

We look to light as a metaphor of transformation. The joyful arrangement of Vaughan Williams’s Lark Ascending explores the flight of a lark, while Schoenberg’s Friede auf Erden urgently seeks “Peace on Earth.” This concert explores stories about how we care for each other, and seek transformation in ourselves and the world.
