BAD WORLD has lyrics by Kylie Jenifer Rose and Jennifer Provenza, and music by James Liptak and Kylie Jenifer Rose. The book is by Kylie Jenifer Rose, James Liptak, Jennifer Provenza, Rachael Singer, Michael Cavazos, Ashley Mellinger, Maya Maria Brown, and Zeloszelos Marchandt.

Bad World is based on a true story of a survivor’s journey dealing with sexual assault. The show focuses on the character Rose, who was sexually assaulted while studying abroad. Her story is interwoven with those of three other survivors in a support group, whose rich backstories help to give light to the range of experiences and reactions to trauma. Structurally, we play with the fluidity of time, utilizing flashbacks and flash-forwards to emphasize the influence of memory when coping with trauma. Stylistically, we feature musical theatre, jazz, folk, contemporary, and choral genres in the composition.

Ultimately, Bad World strives to de-stigmatize survivors of sexual assault and show that through shared vulnerability, can come strength.

Crave Theatre Company and T&A Grand Theater, LLC present In The Land of Ancestors, a transcendental 3-part meditation that will coincide with a live painting that encapsulates the experience by Goddess Carrol. Goddess is one of ten resident artists selected for Crave Theatre and T&A Grand Theater’s annual Ten, Tiny, Talks artist residency and festival celebrating Black and Indigenous trans and queer art, which runs June through October.
Goddess developed In the Land of Ancestors to help others get in touch with the wisdom locked within our own bodies. They will pair etheric sounds and dream-like frequencies with their voice and gently guide individuals through a trance-like visceral experience of their lower bodies. During this meditation, Goddess will interpret the divine inspiration they receive into artistic expression.
In the Land of Ancestors walks folx through a journey into the primordial wisdom of their navel area and pelvic bowl in order to nourish themselves and reclaim their autonomy. It will go over tools to ground and reconnect when we feel unregulated and there will be check-ins throughout the meditation. The language is intended for people across gender and sexual spectrums, however, prior experience with somatic practices is highly recommended.
