OUR TEMPEST - Special Capital Campaign Performance
a new play by Jake Brasch
directed by Caroline Jane Davis
in partnership with The Farm Theater College Collaboration Project
sponsored in part by Furman Humanities Center
April 15 at 2:00 pm
Follow a group of theatre majors into the woods for an immersive devised theatre workshop about the climate crisis, through the lens of Shakespeare's The Tempest. The experience - and their guest artist - is not at all what they were expecting. An exploration of performative activism, contemporary queerness, and the necessity of community, Our Tempest is an ensemble show that asks important questions about our collective future with humor and heart.
“In a mutually beneficial relationship, playwrights develop new work and students get involved in the process of making a new play” (American Theatre magazine). Students and faculty met in August 2022 in NYC to begin the collaboration with professionals from The Farm Theater. This year's cycle consists of work with three different playwrights on three different plays at three different phases in development. Throughout the season, each university (Oklahoma City University, Centre College, and Furman) produces a play and hosts a playwright independently, culminating with a professional workshop series back in NYC in June 2023.
