Step into a world of drama, beauty, and hope with this powerful concert led by Music Director candidate Daniel Black. The program opens with the darkly atmospheric Manfred Overture by Schumann, inspired by Byron’s haunting tale of inner torment and mystery.
Next, the orchestra presents Jocelyn Morlock’s My Name is Amanda Todd—an emotional and poignant tribute that transforms tragedy into a message of empathy and awareness. Then, enjoy a burst of color and brilliance with Guillaume Connesson’s Oboe Concerto “Les Belles Heures”, featuring guest soloist Dwight Parry in a dazzling display of lyricism and virtuosity.
After intermission, the mood lifts with Dvořák’s Symphony No. 8, a joyful celebration of nature, melody, and the vibrant spirit of Bohemia—closing the evening with warmth and exuberance.
