In this culmination of our three-year relationship with Roger Holland as our Artist-in-Residence, Kantorei will present works drawn from his extensive catalogue, blending styles and techniques drawn from both Euro-American art music and African American choral traditions. Holland will conduct several pieces and be featured on piano. Included in this program is the world premiere of a new ambitious multi-movement work commissioned by and written for Kantorei, Ubuntu: I Am Because You Are, with chamber orchestra and featuring award-winning baritone Lester Lynch.
