The Classics at Brantwyn is a garden party event benefiting the Kennett Symphony of Chester County. This unique experience features an open bar and gourmet brunch catered by the DuPont Country Club. Held on the exquisite grounds of the Brantwyn Estate (formerly a DuPont family residence), the Classics at Brantwyn, features beautiful and historic automobiles from the early 20th century to the present and helps bring innovative, first-class programming to Chester County.

Enjoy an exploration of themes of love and nature in the beautiful surroundings of Longwood Gardens. Taking inspiration from Hindu poetry, Canadian composer Glenn Buhr wrote a lighter-than-air piece entitled Akasha; Sanskrit for Sky. Mendelssohn was inspired by the rugged islands off Scotland’s coast to write the Hebrides, whereas Sibelius captured in music the tragic love story of Pelleas and Melisande.

Living in the early 20th century, the music of African American composer Florence B. Price is an important rediscovery in classical music today. This is paired with another distinctive American voice Charles Ives and his enigmatic ‘Unanswered Question.” Then we hear Dvorak’s 8th Symphony, a composer, who also was committed to the music of his native country.
