WAGNER - Siegfried Idyll
TCHAIKOVSKY - Variations on a Rococo Theme
MOZART - Symphony No. 40

Siegfried Idyll is an astonishingly beautiful birthday gift for Wagner's wife, Cosima. This delicate piece was performed on the steps to Cosima's bedroom as she woke early on Christmas morning. Mozart's symphony No. 40, one of his last symphonies, is beautiful for its tragic power and vitality of expression. Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme is beautifully evocative of the 'rococo' style, a style distinctly Mozartean in character. Continuing our relationship with the Curtis Institute of Music, one of the greatest music schools in the country, we welcome Allentown native Andres Sanchez as our featured soloist.
