Like all Israeli youth, Atalya is obligated to become a soldier. Unlike most, she questions the practices of her country’s military, and becomes determined to challenge this rite of passage. Despite her family’s political disagreements and personal concerns, she refuses military duty and is imprisoned for her dissent. Her courage moves those around her to reconsider their own moral and political positions. OBJECTOR follows Atalya to prison and beyond, offering a unique window into the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the perspective of a young woman who seeks truth and takes a stand for justice.

One woman’s life-changing journey: this is the story of Atalya and her family, her peers, her government, and her Palestinian neighbors. It brings us a view of Israel that Western media does not cover: Israeli war resistance. Screening will be followed by a conversation with Shalva Wise, Associate Producer, and Clare Morgana Gillis, PhD.

Ticket sales will help bring Atalya to the U.S. this September (2025) for an East Coast/Midwest tour to strengthen our collective ability to counter rising violence and repression with rising solidarity and interconnection.

Film Length: 75 mins

The film and discussion will run 12:30 - 2:30, followed by a reception at 118 Main St.

Presented by Windham World Affairs Council, Action Corps Vermont, Peaceable Vermont Action

Black Rover, a Brattleboro-based rock band dedicated to the music of Led Zeppelin, will be presenting an evening of music by the legendary British supergroup in the main theater of the Latchis on Sunday, May 18, at 6pm.

Born during an eclipse in the ice and snow of Vermont  in 2024, Black Rover brings together four local professional musicians for a common mission of covering and interpreting the great music of Led Zeppelin. The group has spent the last year learning a host of songs, putting their own stamp on the music with original arrangements and versions of this classic music.

The group has been associated with the Latchis since its inception. Their first rehearsal studio was in one of the Latchis' commercial spaces on Flat Street, blasting out "When the Levee Breaks" for neighbors and passers-by. The band's most recent performance was at the Latchis in March as the opening band for the movie, "Becoming Led Zeppelin." The Rovers performed a pre-movie set of acoustic Zeppelin songs as a prelude to the film, answering questions from the audience and celebrating coming together to play and hear this amazing music. In January the band made its performance debut as the opening headliners for the 2025 season of the Union Hall in Newfane, Vermont.
