Mozart's Great Mass
Martines' Dixit Dominus
Experience the splendor and solemnity of a work as mysterious as it is monumental. For reasons lost to history, Mozart’s Mass in C minor, dubbed his Great Mass, remained unfinished. This dazzling piece encompasses both a clear homage to Baroque counterpoint and an operatically dramatic style.
A contemporary of Mozart, Marianna Martines was arguably the most acclaimed female composer of 18th-century Vienna. Her rich, ornamental, sophisticated Dixit Dominus is a grand motet based on Psalm 110 and is widely considered to be her masterpiece.
Performed with professional orchestra and soloists.
