Join the Monmouth Community Players as we honor the work of local Maine playwrights again this year, but IN PERSON! The MCP shorts festival was borne out of COVID times, where we wanted to continue to do theater while also keeping everyone safe, so we sent out a call for scripts and performed them virtually. We are so excited to produce these shows in person this year!
The MCP Shorts festival will feature 12 short plays from 11 local Maine playwrights. There will be 3 performances the weekend of September 9-11, 2022 in Anniversary Park in Auburn (8 2nd St Lewiston, ME 04240). The shows will be outdoors and audience is asked to bring their own chairs or picnic blankets. Friday Sept 9th is at 6pm, Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th are both at 2pm. Shows are subject to weather, and any cancellations will be sent out to reserved ticket holders early the day of the show.
These plays range from light and comedic to sad and contemplative, all based around the theme of Waiting and the interpretations that playwrights took with that theme. The shows will be performed with minimal staging due to the outdoor performance, but we look forward to showcasing these plays in a full performance, many for the first time.
We hope that you will join us for these premiere performances and help support the work of local artists in Maine.
