Nimbus presents an eclectic mix of new and classic works from the company repertory including a preview showing of Princess Grace Award Winning Choreographer Omar Román De Jesús' new work which will premiere the following weekend in Jersey City, and Samuel Pott’s Surface Tension and Roseification.

Nimbus Dance presents "Point of Contact," three dances set to live music that make up an unforgettable evening at Jersey City's Nimbus Arts Center.
Princess Grace Award-winning choreographer Omar Román de Jesús, hailed as “one of the most exciting new voices in American dance,” unveils a world premiere, Lamentos created with Jersey City’s own Segunda Quimbamba, a celebrated Puerto Rican percussion ensemble. Their rhythms collide with an electronic score by Jesse Scheinin.
Samuel Pott’s “exquisite” Surface Tension returns, with pianist Yukiko Tanaka performing Brahms and Liszt live on stage, accompanied by the sound of rocks and seaweed. As music and dance rise and recede like the ocean itself, this seminal dance explores and blurs the meeting point where one body ends and another begins. Few will want to look away.
Atlanta guest artists Lauri Stallings and glo, whose work critics have called “breathtaking,” bring a new piece, Adventure 1, set to live music by Philip Glass. Recently returned from a residency in the Dordogne region of France, Stallings work is celebrated internationally, in Atlanta, and in small communities across the South of the US, for its meticulous attention to detail and willingness to reconfigure the ways that we think of performance and artmaking.
This performance is funded in part through the NJEDA’s A.R.T. – Phase II Grant Program and by the Hudson County History Partnership Program administered by the Hudson County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs/Tourism Development, Craig Guy, Hudson County Executive & the Hudson County Board of County Commissioners. "Lamentos" is commissioned in part by New Jersey Performing Arts Center.

Nimbus Dance’s Jersey Nutcracker takes Tchaikovsky’s holiday classic on a joyride through the Garden State. Two kids from different sides of town discover a magical nutcracker in a mysterious golden suitcase, sending them racing through city streets and back alleys, down a magical manhole, and into a vision of their city they never imagined.
From the elegance of the Sugar Plum Fairy to dazzling jazzy choreography and laugh-out-loud funny characters, Jersey Nutcracker is a celebration of community, imagination, and the joy of the season.
Nimbus’ acclaimed professional dancers share the stage with young performers from across the state, bringing the full story and choreography to life. Beneath all the mischief and magic, two kids learn to see their city, and each other, with new eyes, in a world where kindness can change the course of a battle and the place they call home becomes brighter than they ever imagined.
About these performances: These Summit showings are intimate previews of Jersey Nutcracker, presented in a simpler production format ahead of our full theater run at Loew’s Jersey Theatre. They feature the complete cast and choreography, with scaled-down staging and technical elements.
