With music unique to our “home,” our Masterworks concert Gloryland will highlight American songs from the tradition of Spirituals, Gospel and the Sacred Harp. Alice Parker’s arrangement of “Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal,” along with uplifting spirituals such as “A City Called Heaven,” “Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit,” and “Bound for the Promised Land” will be featured. And the American Gospel tradition will be explored with Robert Ray’s powerful “He Never Failed Me Yet,” “Oh Happy Day” by Edwin Hawkins, and “Total Praise” by Carol Cymbala from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. A full Gospel band and rhythm section with soloists will round out the concert.
