You won't believe the mayhem - and the fun - when the Herdmans collide with the Christmas story head on! This delightful comedy is adapted from the best-selling Young Adult book, and has become a holiday tradition here at Barley Sheaf. Fun Home

When her father dies unexpectedly, graphic novelist Alison dives deep into her past to tell the story of the volatile, brilliant, one-of-a-kind man whose temperament and secrets defined her family and her life. Moving between past and present, Alison relives her unique childhood playing at the family’s Bechdel Funeral Home, her growing understanding of her own sexuality, and the looming, unanswerable questions about her father’s hidden desires. Fun Home is a refreshingly honest, wholly original musical about seeing your parents through grownup eyes.

The Niceties

An ambitious young Black student and her esteemed white professor meet to discuss the student's paper on the American Revolution. Both are liberal. Both are women. And both are brilliant. But very quickly, mundane conversations about grammar and Google turn into in-depth discussions of race and reputation, and before they know it, they find themselves in dangerous territory neither expected. This deeply resonant work provides powerful truth and ample humor while telling the story of America from a whole new perspective.

Disguised as a nun, she finds herself at odds with both the rigid lifestyle and uptight Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover.
