Join the Sacramento Master Singers for A Master Singers Christmas, a cherished holiday tradition that has delighted audiences for decades.

The concert begins in reverent beauty with a candlelit
processional, setting the tone for a concert rich in joy,
wonder, and musical splendor. The choir will then surround the audience to perform Giovanni Gabrieli’s magnificent Plaudite, written for three choirs—an awe-inspiring sonic experience that fills the space from every corner.

From there, we journey through stirring Christmas spirituals, Franz Biebl’s beloved Ave Maria, and fresh, modern arrangements of traditional carols and seasonal favorites. At the heart of the program lies John Rutter’s powerful Gloria—a thrilling work for voices, brass, percussion, and organ that bursts with jubilation and triumph. The concert concludes in luminous peace, as the choir once again surrounds the audience with the moving strains of Peace, Peace, offering a heartfelt wish for harmony in the season and beyond.

The Sacramento Master Singers invite you to a bold and inspiring program: New Voices New Directions. This concert celebrates the vibrant creativity of contemporary composers, with a special spotlight on the powerful contributions of women writing for today’s choral stage. Featured works include: Andrea Ramsey’s mesmerizing Come and I Will Sing You, Hyo-Won Woo’s exhilarating Cum Sancto Spiritu, and Faith Zimmer’s soulful and uplifting reimagining of I’ll Fly Away.

This performance is more than a showcase of stunning new music—it’s also your chance to glimpse the future of the Sacramento Master Singers. Joining Artistic Director Ralph Hughes on the podium are two guest conductors, finalists for the Artistic Director position beginning in the 2026–2027 season.

The Sacramento Master Singers invite you to a moving and joyful celebration: A Season of Gratitude. This special concert honors Dr. Ralph E. Hughes, who has led the ensemble with passion, purpose, and artistry for an incredible 40 seasons.

In gratitude for the trust and support of the community, Dr. Hughes has curated a program of signature pieces that reflect the choir’s rich legacy under his direction.

Highlights include:

• Ken Medema’s I Will Sing Hallelujah
• Alice Parker’s stirring Johnny, I Hardly Knew Ye
• Gabriel Fauré’s elegant Cantique de Jean Racine

The centerpiece of the program is Ola Gjeilo’s luminous Sunrise Mass, a transcendent work for choir and strings that captures both reflection and hope.

In true Hughes fashion, the program also looks to the future, featuring new works making their debut with the ensemble.
