Internationally renowned violinist, composer, and two-time Grammy Award-Winner MADS TOLLING is celebrating the music of the 60s Mad Men Era with his own distinctive style and innovative flair.

The show debuted to much fanfare at the Historic El Campanil Theatre. It is a fun and exciting program that is at once nostalgic as well as contemporary, and includes Academy Award-winning Movie Themes, popular TV classics, and Top 10 Hit recordings. Repertoire ranges from “Mission Impossible”, “The Pink Panther” and “Meet the Flintstones” to “Georgia on My Mind” and the Love Theme from “Romeo and Juliet.”

So how did a Danish classical violin student growing up in Copenhagen in the 80’s discover his passion for the 60s? When Mads was 14, his father gave him a Miles Davis cassette tape that changed his life. Mads was hooked. He found a sense of intimacy and freedom in the 60s sounds of Jazz, Soul and early R&B, which inspired him to explore the possibilities of how to get there with his violin. The result is an exhilarating and thrilling musical adventure, with Mads guiding us to places we didn’t know a violin could go.

Charged Particles features three of the country's virtuosos doing just that in the acoustic and electric jazz arena. Murray Low is a keyboard wizard with dazzling Latin-jazz technique and imaginative improvisational skills. Aaron Germain is an inventive and sophisticated acoustic and electric bassist. Along with fiery drummer Jon Krosnick, these players are making some of the most electrifying jazz in the country today.

The trio's repertoire blends jazz with elements of Latin music, funk, classical music, and other genres. The group's original compositions are mixtures of complex orchestration and elaborate improvised solos. The band brings a similar approach to playing arrangements of tunes by other jazz artists and traditional jazz standards by the composers of America's most popular songs from decades ago, each played with a new twist.

Based in Los Angeles, Holy Crow Jazz Band performs old-time jazz and blues from the 1900s throughout the 1930s. The band’s repertoire includes many popular and obscure songs recorded by such artists as King Oliver, Bessie Smith, Bix Beiderbecke, Jabbo Smith, Louis Armstrong, Cliff Edwards, as well as original compositions.
Holy Crow is led by Mario J. Maggio (clarinet/sax/guitar) and Jessy Carolina (vocals/percussion).

Holy Crow Jazz Band transports audience members back through the times of feel-good Prohibition era speakeasies where people were untroubled by consequence, and hardships of the Depression era, when music seemed to be the only cure for sorrow and loss.
