If life is fair, he should make it big.”– Rodney Dangerfield...Dennis conceived and co-wrote Rodney’s hit movie, “Easy Money”, and also played two cameo roles. His post-Rodney career has seen him opening for a multitude of celebrities such as Tom Jones, The Beach Boys, Garry Shandling, Joan Rivers, Gloria Estefan, Jackie Mason. When you ask a man to describe the type of Blues he plays and he responds that it is “guitar oriented,” it takes a minute until he further adds that his greatest influences were Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, B.B. King and Albert Collins. Then, you know exactly what he is talking about.
Born in Moline, ILL, Rick Berthod arrived in Las Vegas five years ago after having spent 22 years in the Los Angeles area where he is proud to share that it was there that the late Albert Collins helped him put his band together. Having played at such Los Angeles venues as Universal City’s BB King’s Blues Club Restaurant and Harvelles Blues Club in Santa Monica, Rick can now be seen performing in such Las Vegas venues as the House of Blues, where he appears every Monday night, as well as at the various Station Casinos, including an appearance Saturday, September 8th at Lucille’s Smokehouse Bar-B-Que at the Red Rock Hotel & Casino in Summerlin.
But, of all of Rick’s accomplishments, he is most proud of having been inducted into the Las Vegas Blues Hall of Fame especially since he was inducted by Rita King, daughter of his idol, B.B. King
