Dance, Edie, Dance!

April 20th at 7:30pm

Drag Sensation EDIE has heard those three words her entire life. First from her parents insisting she perform for guests in the living room of their family home in Portland, OR. Then from her dance teacher who gave her the skills and the confidence to take on the world. From Ballet to Broadway to Cirque du Soleil, EDIE has taken those three words to heart. Dance, Edie, Dance is a culmination of her love of life-long love of dance and all the places her long legs have taken her throughout her storied career.

EDIE is best known from Cirque du Soleil’s hit show ZUMANITY where she starred as the emcee, the “Mistress of Sensuality,” at the NY-NY Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. During her 13 year run, EDIE performed over 5,600 shows for over 6 million people. EDIE began her professional dance career at the age of 17 with Ballet Oregon. For the next eleven years she danced with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Ballet Chicago, and Pennsylvania Ballet before moving to New York to pursue musical theater. EDIE quickly became a fixture in New York City where she racked up a bevy of awards including Best Drag Queen (HX Award), Best Dance Artist and Entertainer of the Year (Glammy Award). She starred in her autobiographical, off-Broadway show “LEGS!,” performed on the MTV Video Music Awards, appeared on “Sex and the City,” was featured at Wigstock and Broadway Bares, and made her Broadway debut alongside Cyndi Lauper and Alan Cumming in the Tony-nominated revival of “The ThreePenny Opera” at Studio 54. The San Francisco Chronicle “strongly advises seeing the incredible EDIE whose talent and legs go on forever.”

The Woman in Black
by Stephen Mallatratt

Directed by Mick Alderman

September 27th - October 12th

Synopsis: The framework of this spine tingler is unusual: a lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to family and friends a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired when he attended the funeral of an elderly recluse. There he caught sight of the woman in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. Anyone who sees her dies! The lawyer has invited some friends to watch as he and the actor recreate the events of that dark and stormy night. A classic of the genre.

The Woman in Black is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc.

December 6th - 21st

Synopsis: On Christmas Eve, Celia’s only child, Kit confesses that she would rather live with her dad and his much younger partner beginning tonight, the couple’s wedding night. Left alone feeling powerless and enraged, Celia turns to alcohol and pills to escape her pain. Then her eccentric sister Louise shows up to help her out of her despair. In a drug-induced state, (is she dead? or just tripping?) Celia wakes up in an alternate dimension where the sisters review her past, present, and potential future. With a nod to the classics, It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol, this all-female seriocomic play explores themes of letting go and moving on.

Decked! is presented by arrangement with A3 Artists Agency on behalf of Ginna Hoben.
