Exit, Pursued by a Bear
by Lauren Gunderson

Directed by Jolene Magee

May 31st - June 15th

Sponsored by A Generous Donor

Synopsis: Nan has decided to teach her abusive husband Kyle a lesson. With the help of her friend Simon (acting as her emotional -- and actual -- cheerleader) and a stripper named Sweetheart, she tapes Kyle to a chair and forces him to watch as they reenact scenes from their painful past. In the piece de resistance, they plan to cover the room in meat and honey so Kyle will be mauled by a bear. Through this night of emotional trials and ridiculous theatrics, Nan and Kyle are both freed from their past in this smart, dark revenge comedy.

The Woman in Black
by Stephen Mallatratt

Directed by Mick Alderman

September 27th - October 12th

Synopsis: The framework of this spine tingler is unusual: a lawyer hires an actor to tutor him in recounting to family and friends a story that has long troubled him concerning events that transpired when he attended the funeral of an elderly recluse. There he caught sight of the woman in black, the mere mention of whom terrifies the locals, for she is a specter who haunts the neighborhood where her illegitimate child was accidentally killed. Anyone who sees her dies! The lawyer has invited some friends to watch as he and the actor recreate the events of that dark and stormy night. A classic of the genre.

Decked!
by Ginna Hoben

Directed by Deanna Duplechain

December 6th - 21st

Synopsis: On Christmas Eve, Celia’s only child, Kit confesses that she would rather live with her dad and his much younger partner beginning tonight, the couple’s wedding night. Left alone feeling powerless and enraged, Celia turns to alcohol and pills to escape her pain. Then her eccentric sister Louise shows up to help her out of her despair. In a drug-induced state, (is she dead? or just tripping?) Celia wakes up in an alternate dimension where the sisters review her past, present, and potential future. With a nod to the classics, It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol, this all-female seriocomic play explores themes of letting go and moving on.

Decked! is presented by arrangement with A3 Artists Agency on behalf of Ginna Hoben. www.a3artistsagency.com
