SÉAN MCCANN (The Shantyman) is a founder of the iconic Canadian folk rock band Great Big Sea and an Order of Canada recipient for his recovery
advocacy. A survivor of sexual abuse and
subsequent addiction, Séan has spent the last ten
years touring North America as a solo concert
performer and musical keynote speaker, singing and sharing his story with theatre audiences, front line workers, teachers, students, patients, inmates,
veterans, and anyone who struggles with their
mental health. Séan believes that a song is never more powerful than when it is sung with a friend. “Music is strong medicine” is the mantra by which McCann measures his own successful recovery (now 12 years sober). “It has the power to heal the hurt and unite the divided and we ALL need that now more than ever”

Welcome to the wonderful world of the ten-minute play. The FOAP team is excited to present eight of them in our fourth Festival of One Act Plays: On Your Mark…Get Set…Laugh! Playwright Bruce Kane introduces us to a world where the actors on stage become the audience, where a man, wife and his mistress, an emotional masochist, and an emotional sadist, a creatively blocked actress as well as a jealous car computer are all part of the show. We have an older couple of actors meeting themselves as young actors, an old west prospector, middle aged Batman and Superman and tons more. You will not want to miss this whirlwind of theatre. Three performances only!

Switchermoo A Cosmic Cow Caper

You’ve heard of a cow jumping over the moon, but what about an alien cow who produces green milk?

In this delightfully silly ensemble comedy (with no role larger than 45 lines!), aliens intercept a signal from Earth about the most prestigious prize on the planet — a county fair blue ribbon. They decide to enter their cow in the fair’s Best Cow contest so they can be the talk of the solar system. After landing on Earth on the Oxen Rutabaga Farm, they are discovered by a young girl named Maisy. In the hysterical confusion of meeting a human, the aliens accidentally switch their cow for Maisy’s cow, Daisy Belle. With the fast-approaching contest, the aliens and humans both plot to switch back the bovines. Complicating matters is a simple-minded detective, Lt. Applebottom, and his team of alien catchers — who are really the police station custodians. Will the cows get switched back in time? Will Lt. Applebottom catch the aliens? And how do grilled cheese sandwiches become a peace offering?

      Always entertaining and definitely unique, the Mudmen are a blast of Celtic energy whose members are known to be characters both on and off the stage. Enjoy an all-ages evening of Celtic music & Mud stories from Canada's Celtic Rock Warriors Mudmen . First discovered in 1993 as the Campbell Brothers, Sandy & Rob signed a record deal with EMI Records changing their name to Mudmen in 1998. Mudmen have had music featured on Xbox and PlayStation video games, NBC's television show The Black Donnelly's, WWE Wrestling, 6 Don Cherry Rock'em Sock'em hockey DVD's, HBO's Shameless, Hockey Night In Canada's Coach's Corner, 6 music videos on Much Music reaching #19 on the Edge Radio countdown. In 2008, Sandy & Rob Campbell performed on the new Hockey Night in Canada hockey anthem produced by rock icon Bob Rock where Ron MacLean said televised "Mudmen we love'em". This led to many opportunities including a 3-month tour with Johnny Reid where The Campbell Brothers were featured on his DVD, his PBS special with a performance at the Canadian Country Music Awards.

Disney's 101 Dalmatians Kids

Pet owners, Roger and Anita, live happily in London with their Dalmatians, Pongo and Perdita, stalwart dogs devoted to raising their puppies. Everything is quiet until Anita's former classmate, the monstrous Cruella De Vil, plots to steal the puppies for her new fur coat. The Dalmatians rally all the dogs of London for a daring rescue of the puppies from Cruella and her bumbling henchmen.

Romeo and Juliet or The Old "You-Know-I-Really-Love-You-But-My-Father-Really-Hates-You" Blues

Teenagers. What are ya gonna do. They fall in love at the drop of a hat—always with the very person Mom and Dad can't stand. And in the case of Romeo Montague and Juliette Capulet, their families have hated one another for as long as anyone can remember. Except …no one actually remembers why. Grownups act that way sometimes, huh. This fast-paced adaptation of Shakespeare's play tracks the star-crossed lovers and their cross-purposed families through the tumbling courtship to its tragic conclusion—storytellers firing off comments about premature marriages and the folly of old men at war. A perfect landscape for boisterous swordfights and gender-bending casting. Girls play boys with pointed reminders to the audience of all-male casting in Elizabethan times. Payback, say the storytellers. The audience is prodded to stop the tragedy at several points, but alas, too late. The conclusion? Violence is a stupid choice so mend your fences before you hit the parking lot.
