PRIDE AND PREJUDICE

by Kate Hamill

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Pride and Prejudice ranks among author Jane Austen’s works as one of her best. Playwright Kate Hamill imbues hilarious new life into this classic love story with a decidedly progressive take on the trials and travails of Elizabeth Bennet, Mr. Darcy, and, of course the delightful Bennet clan! This isn't your grandmother's Austen! Bold, surprising, boisterous, and timely, this P&P for a new era explores the absurdities and thrills of finding your perfect (or imperfect) match in life.

Free Range Chickens by Anne Weuhler takes place at a bleak bus stop in seedy Las Vegas. Pickpocket Celerina tries her hand at conning Robert, an awkward out-of-towner. Set against the surreal backdrop of Sin City, their worldviews crash and crescendo into a dark and violent climax.

Dumb Waiter by Harold Pinter is set In the basement of a long-abandoned restaurant and focuses on two hired killers who nervously await their next assignment. Dark and suspenseful, this taut psychological thriller is also a prescient commentary on blind obedience.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM by William Shakespeare

On the shortest night of the year, the magical and mortal worlds collide. What could possibly go wrong? Shakespeare gives us a clue: “The course of true love never did run smooth.” In this beloved tale of mischief and merriment, four stories are cleverly woven together: the marriage of the Athenian duke to the Amazon queen; a spat between the fairy king and queen; the follies of four lovers; and the hilarious antics of amateur actors staging a play. When the exhilarating night in the forest finally resolves to (almost) everyone’s satisfaction, a new day of love, joy and reconciliation dawns. Brimming with wit and wisdom, Shakespeare’s most popular play will enchant you.
