Darkly comic, AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY is a critically acclaimed play that explores the painful issues all American families have to face, and then some. Tracy Letts’ Pulitzer-Prize and Tony-Award-winning play is one of the great new American dramas. It’s most recent success was on the screen this past year, starring Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. At the Oklahoma farmhouse of the Westons, the patriarch, Beverly, goes missing. The family gathers together at the farmhouse hoping for good news, but, after five days, his body is found in a lake, a presumed suicide. The play takes us through the family’s pain, not just over Beverly’s death, but of living in a very dysfunctional family for many years. Violet, the drug-addicted, brain-addled matriarch, her three daughters, and their families try, unsuccessfully, to work out their problems from the time they arrive hoping to find Beverly, through his funeral, and on into the next day.

Law Misérables is being performed by the Bar Stools, an acting ensemble comprised of members of the York County Bar Association, modeled after The Capitol Steps, who originally began as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize the very people and places that employed them in Washington, D.C.

Based on the true story of Patsy Cline's friendship with Houston housewife Louise Seger. Having first heard Cline on the "Arthur Godfrey Show" in 1957, Seger became an immediate fan of Cline's. In 1961, when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger arrived early and by coincidence, met Cline who was traveling alone. The two women struck up a friendship that was to culminate in Cline spending the night at Seger's house---a friendship that lasted until Cline's untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.  The show combines humor, sadness and reality with  Patsy Cline’s music, including Anytime, Walkin' After Midnight, She's Got You, Sweet Dreams and Crazy to name a few.
