Class Description:

Shadow theater is a unique art-form with a rich history from cultures around the world. In this camp, campers will learn about the history and performance techniques of shadow puppetry, create puppets and scenery, rehearse, and ultimately produce their own show. Combining theater, the visual arts, literature, and movement, the only thing brighter than the lights casting shadows, is your child’s creativity!

Embark on a magical journey through the world’s most exciting creation stories in this fun-filled theater camp! Over the course of the week, we’ll explore how different cultures tell the story of how the world, and everything in it, began. Through acting, storytelling, and creative games, you’ll step into the shoes of gods, animals, and heroes from all over the globe. Together, we’ll bring these fascinating tales, or a creation of our own, to life on stage and celebrate the wonders of nature, community, and imagination. This camp is all about creativity, teamwork, and discovering the magic of storytelling—where everyone’s voice helps build a beautiful, colorful world!

This camp is all about exploring how folk music has been used as a powerful tool for social change throughout U.S. history. You’ll dive into the songs that sparked movements, from civil rights to labor rights, and learn how these artists used their voices to challenge injustice and inspire action. Through songwriting workshops, performance exercises, and group collaboration, you’ll create your own folk songs that tell stories of today’s world. Whether you're a musician, lyricist, or storyteller, this camp will empower you to find your voice and make a difference through the timeless art of folk music.

This class is the perfect introduction to collaborating with others and expressing yourself on the stage! Class Description:

*Campers are NOT required to know how to read sheet music

Join us at this Musical Summer Stage Camp for “The Love Must Go On”, a unique musical theater experience where high school performers will explore one of humanity’s most timeless questions: What is love? Over the course of the camp, students will dive into the many forms love can take—romantic, platonic, community, familial, self-love, heartbreak, healing, and more—through the rich storytelling power of song. Campers will collaborate to choose songs from a wide variety of shows, artists, and styles, which will then be woven together into an original showcase performance. Guided by experienced instructors, students will not only rehearse and perform, but also shape the emotional arc of the production—crafting a musical journey that moves the audience through love in all its beauty and complexity.

Because after all... the love must go on.

Class Description:

Due to popular demand, we're bringing back this epic adventure, but this time it's a 5-day quest! Students will dive into the fantastical world of D&D, learning the basics of gameplay, character creation, and storytelling. Along the way, we’ll also explore theater fundamentals like improvisation, character development, and collaboration, enhancing your D&D experience. Whether you’re new to the game or eager to bring your characters to life with some theatrical flair, this class is the perfect blend of role-playing and performance. Get ready to roll the dice and unleash your imagination!

SUMMER STAGE: Theater of the Oppressed

Class Description:

Augusto Boal’s Theater of the Oppressed, students will engage deeply with the main components including Teatro Foro, Image Theater, and Invisible Theater. Students will share their own stories, listen to the stories of others, and co-create theater pieces based on these stories. They will study the profound coercive nature of tragedy as it pertains to contemporary forms of art and also “rehearse” many possible responses and resistance to oppression and try out practices in freedom. Students will apply the concepts of coercive tragedy, poetics, virtue, and catharsis to create their own story at the end of the week.
