SPECTRUM 2021: DIMKA

DIMKA is the story of an intimate friendship between the filmmaker and a Russian transgender grappling with gender identity. In every respect a paradoxical figure, Dimka herself is a study of an obsession with physical beauty, isolation, and dictatorship. At once graphic and poetic, this verité film is a portrait of a bold individual that lives out her non-conformity, as she embraces ideologies that might be her own peril.
