The Blue Cow Group presents six short plays that are inspired by or riffs on a few of Shakespeare’s most well known plays.
Shows include:
The Wizard of Arden or If You Don’t Like It by Elaine Brousseau - Silvius, the lovesick shepherd from As You Like It, unexpectedly encounters Bottom from A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the Forest of Arden. Has Silvius also encountered a solution to his marital woes?
Assisted Living by Elaine Brousseau - It’s a challenge to care for aging parents, especially those with dementia. What might be taking place offstage during Act 1 of King Lear?
Ghosted by Martha Douglas Osmundson - A veteran actor and a younger woman at the start of her career have to face their shared regrets as they are cast in Hamlet.
Mickey and Beth Go to Scotland! by Martha Douglas Osmundson - Watch in horror as this fiercely ambitious American couple claw their way to the top of a land they know nothing about!
Donkeyskin by Rosa Nguyen - Midsummer Night’s Dream inspires this story of a young Asian girl from Rhode Island facing the dehumanization of racism. In a play spanning her past, present and future, she learns to stand up for herself, the underdonkey.
The Diggers of Elsinore by Kay Bullard - The two clowns (gravediggers) of Hamlet believe a curse has befallen Elsinore and thy curse’s name is Hamlet. What shall they do?
