LAST BODEGA IN BROOKLYN
IN HONOR OF HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH
Followed by a discussion with actor/co-director Mosiah Moonsammy and Nydia Simone of Blactina Media
LAST BODEGA IN BROOKLYN is a digital series about an Afro-latino family in Brooklyn that runs a bodega in their neighborhood. A new organic store owner moves across the street with plans of expanding his empire and taking over the bodega. This Brooklynite Tribe must band together to save their business and community from being gentrified. We’re creating a new perspective of gentrification by giving voice to underrepresented culture, afro-latinos, through the lens of disappearing hallmark of New York City, the bodega.
