The L.A Cafe Plays NOW AT OUR NEW HOME AT 2800 Airport Ave.

We just got our official occupancy for the new Ruskin Performing Arts Center — and after what we just lived through getting this thing built, there’s no world where we’re waiting until 2026 to do a show.

This project pushed us right to the edge.

The hours, the scrambling, the delays, the pressure… there were days it felt like we were hanging on by tape, caffeine, and pure stubbornness. But somehow, we pulled off the impossible — and we did it with you behind us.

That’s why it feels right to open the doors now, in the same year we fought this thing into existence.

So on Sunday, December 21, we’re doing a special soft-opening edition of the L.A. Café Plays, and they will launch the new space the only way we know how:
Five plays written that morning, rehearsed that afternoon, performed that night — but this time on a stage we just brought to life.

We’ll have refreshments, a toast, and the first chance for all of you to step inside and feel the space you helped make possible. This theatre didn’t happen in isolation — it happened because our community showed up, believed in us, backed us, and stuck with us through every curveball.

Come celebrate what we pulled off together.

Come be part of the very first night in our new home.
