Celtic Series '26: Hayden Stern & Dear Crow
Tuesday Oct. 20 @7pm
Double-Billing! Hayden Stern Trio and Dear Crow.
Dear Crow description: Old-time tunes, original and trad songs, sweet double fiddles and lyrical banjo, tight vocal harmonies: a sound that is both nostalgic and bright with possibility. Dear Crow is the musical partnership of Brian Lindsay (of the powerhouse acoustic duo "Countercurrent") and Penka Jane Culevski, a forthright and emotive fiddler and songsmith. In the heartfelt and vulnerable arrangements of Dear Crow, the harmonies ring easily, the songs pluck your heartstrings, and the tunes roll and tumble with the energy that only dance musicians can muster.
Hayden Stern description: As a fiddler, composer, and community builder Hayden Stern has taken Seattle’s roots music scene by storm. Stern draws freely from multiple traditions, expanding his original base of Scottish fiddling to Irish, Scandinavian, French-Canadian, Appalachian, and beyond. His debut album, The Morning Dark, focuses on composing tunes himself, bringing his roving ear and keen focus on arranging to a live performance built to rouse everyone to dance.
