AVIAN IMPROV

Lanny McDowell has been a fan of David Stanwood’s piano playing as long as David has been a fan of Lanny’s artwork, over twenty years. Recently, the two friends have developed a collaborative program which combines the art forms of piano improvisation and bird photography, which they call “Avian Improv”. Coinciding with the artist reception for Lanny’s upcoming photo exhibit in our lobby, featuring his new “Double Takes” series, the two friends will present almost an hour-long slideshow of bird photographs accompanied by live piano playing, all in the comfort of the Film Center theater. The program is both meditative and inspiring, a peaceful journey and a cause for celebration.

This unique presentation happens on Sunday, January 13. The slideshow and the music begin at 1:00 PM, followed by audience questions for the artists and Lanny’s reception in the theater lobby until 3:00. “Avian Improv” is a free event and appropriate for almost all ages.
