Maria Wirries on Tour!

Sarasota's own musical star, Maria Wirries, is back! Maria will be taking a one-night break from duties on the National Tour of the Tony Award -Winning hit musical Dear Evan Hansen, to come entertain her home city with a special concert. Accompanied by her longtime friend and vocal coach Alan Corey, during the first Act, and Matt Sangiovanni, the talented guitarist on tour with Maria during the second Act, she will be bringing to the stage songs from her time in New York and her experiences around the country.

Maria Wirries is a recent graduate from the musical theater program at Penn State. Besides her current role in Dear Evan Hansen, she most recently was seen in the Broadway revival workshop of Once on This Island. Other theater credits include: The Artists Series' Hot and Cole; Penn State School of Theater's Be More Chill, Sweet Charity, Hair, Titanic; and The Players Theater's Master Class. She also performs solo cabarets and often collaborates with the Sarasota Orchestra on their Master Works series. Maria has a huge appreciation for new work and has performed newly commissioned pieces by composers and artists James Grant, Dick Hyman, Alex Rybeck, and Sheridan Seyfreid. This last fall at Penn State she participated in a commission project of a new theater piece written by Mike Reid and Sarah Schlesinger. As well as participated in the world premier of Love in Hate Nation, a Joe Iconis musical. Maria also writes her own songs that can be heard on her SoundCloud account.
