An Act of the Imagination by Barnard Slade

A Twisty Who-Done-It Mystery

By the author of ‘Same Time, Next Year,’ comes a thriller where fiction and reality collide. Arthur Putnam is a well-to-do mystery writer in 1960s London. However, his latest novel takes a strange twist. It’s a romance, detailing an adulterous affair, and it’s unusually vivid and suspiciously specific for a work of fiction. Enter a woman claiming to be his lover and the inspiration for the book, and everything goes amok. Death stalks; the other woman disappears and evidence incriminates Arthur in her murder. A classic "whodunit" with a twisting plot that will keep everyone guessing right up to the end.
