The electrifying grand finale of our Grand Opening Weekend will be the virtuosic and boundary-breaking Rodney Marsalis Philadelphia Big Brass Ensemble!
"Not only technically impressive but hugely entertaining... the joy and humor was infectious."
Born on the streets of New Orleans and led by legendary trumpet player Rodney Marsalis (from the legendary jazz dynasty), this veritable "dream team" delivers an unforgettable musical finale that will have you up and dancing in the aisles—from Bach to Bernstein, Renaissance dances and Earth, Wind & Fire. The ensemble doesn’t just sit and play—they embody their pieces with movement, humor, and wild tales. This fitting finale to our grand opening celebrations will conclude with post-concert prosecco and desserts for all attendees!
A graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, Rodney Marsalis has worked under the guidance of world-renowned conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gerard Schwarz, James DePreist, John Williams, Jesus Lopez-Cobos and Christopher Hogwood. He was awarded a fellowship at the Tanglewood Music Center where he was invited to return for a second summer during which he was awarded the Seiji Ozawa Award for Outstanding Musicianship.
